The bill addresses the oversight by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) of certain cryptocurrency exchanges. <\/span><b>Bartlett Naylor, economist for Public Citizen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, released the following statement:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLeading Democrats correctly rejected this latest effort to sanitize President Trump\u2019s massive crypto grift, recognized by the nation\u2019s<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.org\/news\/senate-oppose-trump-crypto-grift-enabling-bill\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">leading ethics experts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as the most massive corruption in presidential history. This \u2018gryfto\u2019 bill contains no presidential conflict standards. Further, it wraps these sprawling Ponzi cryptocurrency schemes with the imprimatur of the U.S. government, allowing hucksters to affix the label of the CFTC to their scams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe crypto industry spent unprecedented amounts in the 2024 election and has amassed a major war chest for the 2026 midterms to pressure Congress, as documented in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.org\/article\/big-crypto-big-spending-2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Public Citizen\u2019s reports<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
